mural for filipino restaurant ‘barkada’ - group dining area
in 2022 i worked with a melbourne-based filipino restaurant, ‘barkada’, to design and paint
a mural illustration for the group dining area in their newly opening restaurant.
the restaurant owners wanted a piece of artwork that had a casual, slightly playful, and warm feel.
while also incorporating parts of the filipino streetfood culture and capturing the idea of
friendship, memories and the good times, to tie in with their restaurant name.
‘barkada’ - filipino word meaning “a group of friends”

the illustration artwork in its early stages - a group of friends, 'barkada', with a selection of food from the restaurant's menu showing below. inspired by tiffany mae go's artwork, "it's the barkada"
